RIGHT NUMBER

Starting out,
           forlorn,
    from downtown
                 Boulder, we are
 driving Jamie up the
            hill to his dorm,

first day, college,
     University of Colorado,
 when my cell phone,
           crammed in hip pouch,

jams, unbeknownst,
         against gearshift, and
  suddenly his phone
      rings. “Who is it?”

I ask, as he looks at
              his phone and
    says, “It’s you.”  So, will

this count against
           the “anytime” minutes
                in my heart-line
                           plan?
