‘MOVING THROUGH HERE’

I may not be here when you wake,
I may go on a distant trip
across dark seas and stormy nights,
to dock beside some moonlit slip.

I may not be here when you wake,
and where I’m bound I have no clue,
but have no fear, those I love,
I’ll make it safe, I’ll wait for you.

I may not be here when you wake,
so forgive this last advice I give
from all the things I’ve learned ‘till now,
pass through this grief, then laugh and live.
