THEY KNOCKED THE SCHOOL DOWN,
SO THIS HAPPENED ONLY IN MY MIND
Walking out of school today,

     last time,
I stared down at yellow-grated

     stairs of
loading dock, just as I had

     promised to do

     when,
staring down, I first walked in

     35 years before–a day
 like all days,

     surprised by the

     sun,

     I sneezed.

         Done.
 A life.
